Saranda, 6 PM

The salt sea turns to turquoise in the bay, Across the channel, Corfu starts to glow; The wooden skiffs drift home at end of day, Where water laps the pebbles down below. Along the promenade, white lanterns gleam, And vines of purple bloom on warm stone walls; High on the hill, the castle holds its dream, As over sea and shore the twilight falls. Now six o’clock brings stillness to the air, A quiet breath between the sea and land; The distant hills of Corfu hover there, While golden light fades out across the sand. Lëkurësi looks down upon the deep, As all the coastal town falls soft with sleep.
